MLB Play is the league’s fantasy baseball platform—turning fandom into a social, shareable game. I was commissioned to design a full system of digital collectibles for every club, transforming in-app rewards into a visual celebration of baseball culture.
CHALLENGE
Create artwork that feels authentic to each team while staying cohesive across the league—each piece functioning as both a collectible and a mobile-first fan reward.
APPROACH
Developed two complementary visual languages: one rooted in hand-painted craft and baseball nostalgia, and another built around bold, neon-inspired energy for a modern edge. Each wallpaper told a story through layered city landmarks, stadium scenes, and archival textures—blending history, grit, and digital polish to capture the character of every club.
WORK
Designed 2 avatars and 2 wallpapers per team—over 120 custom assets across the league.
Created hand-painted marks, logos, and landscapes, then composited them into dynamic digital environments.
Built a unified visual system that balanced team individuality with a consistent league-wide aesthetic.
RESULTS
A fan-favorite feature—widely shared and collected—turning in-app progress into a visual expression of team pride and league-wide engagement.
